Wren Nest in Drawer
I was removing all furniture to paint my deck.
I moved the plant on top of this table which had a small drawer in it. I felt it's a little heavier than usual so opened the drawer. Wow.
There was a nest inside of the drawer with 4 little white eggs(April 24, 2020).
I let my family know and my wife told me to stay away and don't do anything until the baby birds are able to fly out.
I was curious to know what kind of bird they are so I watch. After hours of watching, I find out that they were House Wrens.
It was interesting and very relaxing to watch their movement every day. I got pictures and videos.
So my deck painting project is pending. I don't know for how long.
My dear wife does not even let us go out to the deck until these all birds are free.
We went out of town for a couple of days. After we got back on May 17, 2020, I didn't see bird activity feeding their baby.
The next day I open the drawer slowly. The nest was empty. I missed watching them fly away.
I decided to move furniture the next day for preparing to paint the deck. before I moved the table, I open the drawers, surprisingly there was one egg on May 18, 2020.
Confused, I thought I might miss that maybe the bad egg didn't get to hatch. The next day I wanted to move things on deck to cleaning up so soon I can start painting.
I decided to bury that one egg so it does not smell if rotten. I open the drawer. There were two eggs. They are back already.
We are going to have a second round in the same nest. More Wren babies!
This time I'll watch every day until baby bird's fly away on June 26, 2020. I gave this bird a name "CHIBE".
